DESCRIPTION

xlibinout_calibrator(8) calibrates a touch screen setting the so called libinput _matrix calibration_ using the _xinput_ interfaces.

The possible outcomes of this command are:

  • set a new X11 configuration
  • create a new configuration file for X11
  • show the xinput command option to set the new matrix calibration
  • show the udev script to set the new matrix calibration

DEFAULT TOUCH

xlibinout_calibrator(8) tries to find a suitable device to calibrate on the basis of the following logic:

  • if exists ONLY ONE touch, calibrate it
  • else if exists MORE THAN ONE touch, raise an error
  • else if exists ONLY ONE device with a "libinput Calibration Matrix" property calibrate it
  • else raise an error

If you have more than one device that may be elegible as calibration, use the option --device-name=<devname>|--device-id=<device-id>.

OPTIONS

--device-name=<devname>|--device-id=<device-id>

xlibinout_calibrator(8) selects automatically the device to
operate. If for some reason this is not possible (eg. avaliability
of multiple devices), it is possible to select explicitly the
device with --device-id=... or --device-name=... options (the
former takes precedence).
--display=<display>
Set the X11 display.
--dont-save
Don't save the setting in X11 when the program ends.
--list-devices
Shows all the avilables devices with their ID. Show also the candidates devices to the calibration.
--matrix-name=<matrix-name>
Set the name of the matrix used for the calibration.
--start-matrix=<x1,x2..x9>
Sets the intial matrix before doing the calibration. By default xlibinput_calibrator(8) sets the calibration matrix to the identity (i.e. all 1 in the diagonal). With this option it is possible to set another matrix. Note that if something goes wrong or the calibration fails, the original matrix is set in X11.
--monitor-number=<nr>
Set the monitor to display the window. If <nr> is equal to 'all', the window will span all the monitors area. Use ’xrandr --listmonitors' to get the <nr> associated to the monitor.
--output-file-udev-libinput-cmd=<filename>
Set the filename where the udev script will be saved. Implies --show-udev-libinput-cmd.
--output-file-x11-config=<filename>
Set the filename where the X11 configuration will be saved. Implies --show-x11-config.
--output-file-xinput-cmd=<filename>
Set the filename where the xinput command will be saved. Implies --show-xinput-cmd.
--show-matrix
Show the final matrix when the program ends.
--show-udev-libinput-cmd
Show the the udev script for libinput to set the matrix_calibration.
--show-x11-config
Show the the `X11` file configuration with the new matrix_calibration.
--show-xinput-cmd
Show the the xinput(1) command to set the matrix_calibration.
--threshold-doubleclick=<nn>
Set the threshold for accept or reject a click. It sets the minimum distance between clicks to accept them. If the value is 0, the check is not performed. Default value 1.
--threshold-misclick=<nn>
Set the threshold for accept or reject a click. The four clicks have to be the in the corners of a rectagle. The value passed are the maximum allowable distance between the click and the ideal point. If the value is 0 (default), the check is not performed.
--verbose
Be verbose.
